Virtual Date Reviews is a small publication with one purpose: helping adults find an AI companion that truly fits them. Before you trust a single heart rating, here is exactly who is giving it.
How we work
Every companion app in our top 10 is held up to the same warm light: feature completeness, chat quality, content freedom, access and value, and character variety. The full breakdown, weightings included, lives in our methodology section. Three promises sit on top of it:
- Hands-on and criteria-based. We compare products, not press releases, and every factual claim on this site should be checkable against the platforms themselves.
- Hearts are editorial. Every heart rating is our team's opinion and labeled that way. No aggregated third-party scores, no invented user numbers, no made-up testing statistics, ever.
- Kept fresh. We revisit rankings and comparison claims on a regular rhythm, and the visible "updated" date changes whenever a page does.

Who we are
These pages are written and cared for by the Virtual Date Reviews editorial desk, operated by the team behind Swipey AI. We won't use warm stock-photo faces or invent independent credentials we don't have. Our reviewing voice does have a name and a drawn (not photographed) face: Sofia Bloom, our lead reviewer, the consistent illustrated identity of this desk. The people comparing these companions are the people who build the one we rank first, and we print that fact near the rankings, in the footer, at the end of every article, and right here.

Sofia is the byline and illustrated face of our editorial desk: a consistent reviewing voice for every companion we cover. She is not a stock photo and not a claim to be an independent third party, and we invent no certificates or employers for her. The name simply lets you follow one steady, accountable point of view across the site.
Her approach is hands-on and repeatable: create a companion on each app, put chat, voice, image, video, calls and live mode through the same warm tests, and score against our published methodology. Where a rival genuinely beats Swipey on price or free access, she says so; where Swipey leads on experience, she says that too.
Why trust a site owned by a vendor?
It's a fair question, and we'd rather answer it than dodge it:

Every app we cover has a free tier or trial, ours included. Our most repeated advice has always been: feel the chemistry yourself before paying anyone.
Nothing invented, ever
No fake testimonials, no planted comments, no fabricated statistics or third-party ratings. Editorial opinion, clearly labeled, is the only kind of judgment on this site.
